Portrait of Leon 🎬 Internal mobility
3 words to sum-up your internal mobility?
Leon : Audacity. Confidence. Communication
What has been your career path at D-EDGE?
Leon: I arrived in May 2016 in Level 1 Support, dealing with customers by phone and managing basic tickets related to the Product. Then, I moved to Level 1 Advanced, as a Technical Referent to support newcomers and help them feel more comfortable with our products and be able to manage tickets efficiently with customers. Then, I moved to Level 2 Support, just after the company became D-EDGE. And finally, in 2021, it's been 4 years now, I took over the management of this Level 2 team, which in the meantime cumulates the additional role of managing and coordinating incidents, which is a very important role in the company in terms of communication. And since January 2025, I've been handling in addition to Level 2 Support and management of incidents: of the IT Workplace department.
If you had to explain your new role to a 5-years-old in one sentence, what would it be?
Leon: Like a conductor, I make sure the instruments are well-tuned and that they all play beautiful music together.
What factors have favored your internal mobility?
Leon: Since Level 1 Support, I've always had abilities in the past related to teaching and kindness. And it's true that the opportunity I've had since Level 1 Support was to put them into practice and hone these skills. And these are things that people notice, which have allowed me to have doors opened.
What key skills did you develop in your past job and how do you think they are helping you in your new role?
Leon: It's thanks to management that it has allowed me to step back from operations, to learn to prioritize and delegate because it's not enough to know how to do everything yourself, you have to know how to pass these things on to others so that they can do the same, so that they are autonomous. And I would say that this is the ultimate stage, it's the final vision of management, it's that when you have taught others to do the same, to be able to delegate, and as I take up the term conductor again, you are able to close your eyes, to be serene and to just make a few adjustments at most. But basically, you know that your team is empowered, they are autonomous, and they enjoy it too.
What impact has this internal mobility had on your professional and persona life?
Leon: The fact of being able to know how to delegate is much more relaxing, especially for personal life. Then of course, management is a lot (90%) about people, conflict management, people, all of that is part of the things you have to accept, you have to know in management and it's also satisfying to help these people grow humanly. So, the impact I have personally, is that it also allows me to have a much more global vision with much more perspective and to be much calmer and more serene for any type of situation, whether professional or personal.
What advice would you give to your colleagues?
Leon: For all of this, I've learned on the job. It's something you have to give yourself the means, you have to have the motivation, the will, and I want to say to everyone: don't hesitate, don't put up barriers! If there is something that interests you, even just a little bit, at least test it!
