Portrait of Constance 🎬 Internal mobility
Three words to summarise your internal mobility?
Constance: Well, I'd say:
- Cross-functional, having worked in different departments with different teams and different knowledge.
- The internal network is something that needs to be maintained; knowing the right people and knowing who to turn to in order to advance my career was quite clear.
- Trust, because D-EDGE trusts me to give me new tasks, new roles, and I also trust D-EDGE.
What has been your career path at D-EDGE?
Constance: I'd say I've had three major stages in my career at D-EDGE. The customer is always at the centre, by the way, making sure we have a good relationship and that everything is clear for them.
- I started as an Account Manager for Parisian hotels about ten years ago, focusing on everything related to customer relations, satisfaction, retention, and up-selling.
- Then I moved on and became an Internal Trainer to train our colleagues on new solutions, new processes, but also whenever we have new D-EDGE employees.
- Next, I have a more cross-functional role today where I am halfway between Sales and Finance as Contract Admin. We work on contracts, ensuring the contracts are tidy, flawless, and also when we have slightly more unusual or complex projects, we work on them together.
What factors encouraged your internal mobility?
Constance: I'd say there were two parts.
- The first part that encouraged my first move to become a trainer was the internal mobility offer itself. I had received the email saying that a new internal trainer position was open, and when I looked at the required skills, well, I fit the criteria, so that's how I applied and got the job.
- The second move, the second transfer to become a Contract Admin, came from an exchange between two managers: one expressing a need, the other saying, 'I know, I have the person for you.'"
What key skills have you developed?
Constance: The first skill is what I would call autonomy, the taking of initiative. Today, as a Contract Admin, I also go further into processes that don't exist, that aren't optimised. We have a lot to do and I have a rather full list of tasks for next year! Communication have been extremely key throughout my career at D-EDGE.
What is the impact on your professional and personal life?
Constance: It has pushed me to adapt more and more, with a new scope, new managers, new colleagues, new responsibilities, new objectives. You always have to adapt, and clearly, it also pushes me to adapt in my personal life.
What advice would you give your colleagues?
Constance: GOOO! Basically, it's normal to have doubts, but I would like to say: at D-EDGE, we have the opportunity to do so in a fairly secure environment. You are not left to your own devices. Don't hesitate to talk to people who have already moved, evolved into new positions, and also seek out those who are already in those positions to see if you like it, if it might meet your expectations.
