🎯 THE POSITION:
As a key stakeholder in the hospitality industry, D-EDGE processes large amounts of data on behalf of its customers, as well as for its own usage.
In a context of fast growth for the company, where a data backbone is already existing but relevant for an internal usage only, and where feature teams are lacking support for implemented data-first approaches, you are a member of the Data Engineering team, gathering data coming from all D-EDGE departments, including the data collected or generated by the D-EDGE productsand providing valuable information to Product Managers, Management and Sales positions, Marketing department as well as customers through a dedicated product.
🎯 WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
The team is dedicated to :
Build and maintain the systems aimed at collecting, storing, processing and distributing data
Assist feature teams in modeling data and make it available to the Data Engineering team
Implement data processing algorithms to answer enquiries from company members and customers
Design and implement efficient reporting tools
Delivering analytics-ready data in a reliable, scalable, and cost-effective manner
The missions of the Confirmed Data Engineer are:
Data Storage
Improve and scale the company data storage to follow the company and data usage growth, using state-of-the-art technologies and ensuring reliability and performance.
Maintain the data storage in collaboration with the team in charge of the Infrastructure.
Work on a data platform built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), leveraging services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage.
Ensure data storage solutions are scalable, efficient, and secure.
Monitor and optimize storage for cost-effectiveness and performance.
Data Management
Identify data sources, both internal and external, that are relevant to the considered data exploration.
Build and maintain efficient, observable, and scalable data pipelines, ensuring data quality and integrity.
Implement data flows to import data sources into the company data backbone and apply updates when needed.
Prepare and process data according to planned usages, ensuring data quality and integrity.
Ensure pipelines are optimized to balance performance and cost.
Understand data modeling techniques (e.g., ER diagrams, star schema, snowflake schema) and experience with designing relational and non-relational databases.
Understanding of data integration techniques and best practices.
Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) for data manipulation and automation.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services.
Understand data governance principles and frameworks.
You have experience in containerization concepts, code version control systems and unit testing
Data Analysis
Collect and challenge needs and wishes from clients (internal/external) to ensure alignment with business goals.
Identify relevant KPIs and metrics to calculate, providing insights for decision-making.
Design reports, configure analytics tools, and create dashboards that effectively communicate data insights.
Present data and explain results to avoid misunderstanding, ensuring stakeholders understand the implications.
Research & Prospective
Explore new solutions and technologies aimed at improving the company data backbone.
Proactively participate in identifying team/client future needs and proposing innovative solutions.
Assess ways to add value to our data, especially by mixing it with external data, enhancing business intelligence capabilities.
You report to the Data Team's Lead
🎒 WHAT YOU’VE GOT :
You have at least 3+ years of experience in data engineering.
You have a good knowledge of data processing languages such as SQL and Python, and data storage platforms such as Google BigQuery.
You have extensive experience orchestrating/scheduling workflows with Airflow.
You are familiar with programming languages in general.
You are familiar with data visualization tools such as Google Data Studio, LookerStudio and Tableau.
You have a collaborative way of working and a willingness to share your experience through mentoring.
You demonstrate the ability to adapt and be flexible.
You have excellent organizational and time management skills, and work independently.
You have the ability to present complex things in a simple manner.
You are a problem solver and have sharp analytical skills.
You speak and write French and English fluently.
Traveling in foreign countries is required (once every couple of months).
